FINDING the perfect pair of jeans can be a nightmare – especially if you’re an ‘awkward’ height or shape.
But shoppers of all sizes have been praising Sainsbury’s over an “amazing” denim style that “balances out” your figure.
Barrel jeans have been tipped as one of the hottest trends for 2024, as seen in recent weeks by attendees at London Fashion Week.
Launching their own Tu Clothing version, the supermarket’s £22 pair boast a relaxed, looser fit and a slight taper at the ankle.
Describing them on the website, Sainsbury’s bosses said: “In a flattering barrel fit, our dark denim jeans are a great way to shake up your denim collection this season.
“Crafted from a cotton-rich blend, they combine comfort with effortless style.
“For a laidback look, style them with a striped t-shirt and loafers.”
With such a cheap price tag, it’s no surprise that the jeans have already proved popular with fashion fans – and they come in black too.
Carole Marchant said: “I have been very curious to see if the barrel style jeans would suit me.
“I have to say I really like them – these are barrel leg ones and like them on as they balance me out if that makes sense. They are also not too big and wide which I like too.”
Bagging her own pair in a size 8, former stylist Stacie Elsmore added: “Can you believe these jeans are from Sainsbury’s?!
“They’re such a steal and I love how comfortable and easy to wear they are.”
Another shopper chimed in: “I have these. I’m normally an 18 but 16 felt better but both fitted depends on how loose you want them.
“Amazing jeans. Flattering even though baggy.”
Someone else wrote: “I have these Sainsburys ones and they’re fab.”
And size 14 fashionista Bev Patman gushed: “Let the jeans do the talking with this fab silhouette.”

She added: “These Tu Clothing ones are great if you don’t like the overly exaggerated leg shape but still want to tap into this trend.”
How to style your barrel jeans
Celebrity stylist Rachael Hughes, in partnership with Tu Clothing, has revealed the best way to wear your barrel jeans.
She said: “Tu Clothing’s Barrel Jeans have a flattering high waist, wide leg and tapered hem, and are a great twist on a classic. They are so wearable and perfect for the season ahead.
“To ensure that the jeans are the statement piece, keep it super simple on top.
“Due to the jeans having a high waist and looser fit, I would recommend pairing them with a more fitted style.
“Bodysuits are a great option layered with a chic blazer, or for a more elevated look, a crisp white shirt is the perfect addition.
“Shoe wise, ballet flats or pumps give it a low key casual vibe but can also be dressed up with a pointed toe heel for evening elegance.”
Other shoppers are now racing to get their hands on a pair – and they’ll have to be quick, with most sizes sold out online.
“Oh I need a pair, they look fab”, gushed one.
Another exclaimed: “No way! Sainsbury’s have done good with this.”
“Can’t believe these are from Sainsbury’s”, echoed a third.
While a fourth added: “Think I need to try these.”
Bosses at Tu Clothing confirmed barrel jeans have soared in popularity, with sales doubling over the past week.
And they’ve predicted the style will remain a “firm favourite” within their new denim collection.
